A haiku composed and sent to me this afternoon by a dear friend who's addicted to the tangy, fresh taste of gin gimlets:
Ever fleeting joy
Will weakens thinking of you
My lips taste of gin

Hi Regan,
In your most recent rant you write:
“I’m tired of callousness and immorality in the media. I just can’t help feeling that maybe if people covered others’ deaths in the same way they’d like theirs reported, there might not be so much rehashing of the dirty nitty-gritty.”
I am aware that you were referring to gossip and the airing of dirty laundry but I am still surprised to see that in the previous rant you wrote the following about recently deceased Senator Ted Kennedy:
“…I am genetically predisposed to love Sen. Ted Kennedy. But I’m just not feeling it.”
“(A co-worker flippantly pointed out that it’s a proven fact that a Kennedy dies every 20 seconds. If anything, the family is having a party that they were able to pull off two natural deaths in recent weeks.) I want a chart of what Kennedys are left and why I should care.”
It seems a bit hypocritical to me that these rants would run back to back. While I realize you weren’t gossiping about the Senator I do find what you wrote to be disrespectful and rude given that you were discussing someone who had died so recently.
Best,
alex
